Happy Thanksgiving from our Table to Yours

Today was a typical day at the inn. Earlier we served breakfast for 2 couples, then turned over their rooms after check-out. This afternoon we welcomed three new couples. Actually "new" is a misnomer, since all of today's guests have been here many times before. That's nice since we can share today's holiday spirit with these friends we've made here over the years.

This is a time when we think about how fortunate we've been over the past year. We have a business and lifestyle we enjoy, we make new friends each time our doorbell rings with new guests, or - like today - renew acquaintenances with old friends who are returning to visit us and our inn. Part of our Windover extended family.

Needless to say, we do not celebrate a traditional Thanksgiving here at the inn. Between working and Glenn not eating meat, there's not much that's traditional at all. But Glenn did prepare a vegetarian feast that made some turkey happy, somewhere. Pictured are 'before' and 'after' views of our dinner which we devoured in the early afternoon. The recipes are from the November/December issue of Vegetarian Times. The article is entitled, 'The Ultimate Thanksgiving Menu.' (And it was delicious, and executed perfectly by Chef Boy 'o Boy!)

One part of the tradition is still very evident though, and that is how thankful we are for all of our blessings, but a holiday doesn't have to come to make us feel that way. We count our blessings every day, and feel very fortunate for the life we have, even if it's got some downsides (maybe someday we'll be able to talk our family into moving here).

Happy Thanksgiving!
